The car insurance laws for Gulfport, Mississippi are the same as for the rest of the state. Mississippi motorist are required to maintain liability insurance. The minimum financial responsibility requirements for car insurance are $25,000 per person per accident, $50,000 per accident for bodily injury, and $25,000 per accident for property damage (25/50/25).

Beginning January 1, 2006, Mississippi law requires that all motorists maintain liability insurance and carry a card in their cars at all times showing that you have liability insurance. If you are found to be without auto insurance, you can be fined $1000 and have your license suspended for 1 year or until the car owner shows that the vehicle has insurance on it.
