Reader’s Question:

I would like to know the insurance laws for car insurance in Jackson, Mississippi?

Chris

Jackson, MS

The auto insurance laws for Jackson, Mississippi are the same as for the other insurance laws in other state. Mississippi motorists are required to maintain liability insurance. The minimum financial responsibility requirements for car insurance are $25,000 per person up to $50,000 per accident for bodily injury, and $25,000 for property damage per accident (25/50/25).

Beginning January 1, 2006, Mississippi law requires that all motorists maintain liability insurance and maintain a card in their cars at all times showing that you have liability insurance. If you are cited driving without insurance, you can be fined $1000 and have your license revoked or suspended for one year or until the car owner shows that the vehicle has insurance on it.
