Reader’s Question:

In Mississippi, how long does a first DUI violation remain on a driver’s license record?

Mary

Gulfport, MS

In Mississippi, a first time offense for driving under the influence or DUI has the penalties of a fine between $250 and $1000, driver’s license suspension for up to one year and up to 48 hours in jail.

The Mississippi Code, Chapter 11 of Title 63 discusses the implied consent law, which a DUI falls under. While the Mississippi code speaks of the penalties for first and subsequent infractions for a DUI, it does not list how long the infraction of the law will remain on your driving record.

To verify how long a DUI will remain on your MS driving record contact the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.
